Recently I contacted PETA about the animal cruelty case on Adria Hinkle and Andrew Cook. I received a “form response” reply. I read it and couldn't believe what was said. Here are a few samples…
It is our policy that the vast majority of animals we accept are only those who are in terrible conditions or unadoptable for some reason, such as aggression or sickness in old age.
The report from North Carolina regarding the dumping of animal bodies in a dumpster by a PETA staff member is deeply upsetting. It is against PETA's policy to put the bodies of euthanized animals in dumpsters, as you might imagine, and we are appalled that a member of our staff apparently did that. Despite the fact that we know this woman to be a caring soul and someone who has done much selfless work to help animals, there is no excuse for what happened, and she is no longer working with us.
We are a “shelter of last resort,” offering a humane death to animals who would otherwise suffer a slow and painful end.
Like you, we wish that there were other acceptable options available. We cannot bring the majority of animals back to Virginia for placement.
PETA has always spoken openly about euthanasia on our Web site and in our publications. Lets face it folks PETA lies. It's no secret that PETA preaches no pain, suffering or death to animals. Yet they admit it at the same time, PETA must be confused.
On the morning of June 15, 2005, Andrew Cook and Adria Hinkle, two employees of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) were arrested in Ahoskie, North Carolina, and charged with cruelty to animals. A Grand Jury later indicted each defendant on 21 felony counts of Animal Cruelty and 3 counts of Obtaining Property by
Andrew Cook
Adria Hinkle
Not a place I would want to spend my last moments. notice the inset, a copy of PETA's Kind News. Remember, PETA employees did this. The tackle box of death PETA’s new numbers are in and they are disgusting. In 2005 PETA killed 1,946 cats, dogs and other pets in Virginia. They also killed 141 wild animals. That makes PETA’s kill rate 90% for the year, up from 86% last year. You think I’m making all this up? Check out this link, its to the Virginia Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services online animal reporting….
On Feb. 2nd 2007 Andrew Cook and Adria Hinkle were found guilty of littering, that’s right littering.
Judge Grant sentenced them to a years supervised probation, 50 hours community service and suspended a 10 day jail term. They must also pay a $1,000 fine each and split $5,970 restitution to the town for expenses in cleaning the crime scene, storing the van and burying the animals. PeTA wont be getting their van back. The town has confiscated it. An important thing to remember here is that not once during this trial did PeTA deny killing these pets. As a matter of a fact they admitted it. PETA manager Dapha Nachminovitch confirmed that, yes, PETA does kill animals. As of March 11 PeTA's 2006 animal report to the state of Virginia has yet to be submitted. It was due Jan 31.
